Local and federal authorities just last week wrapped up a drug operation that brought tens of thousands of illegal pills into Forsyth County from India.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater on Tuesday confirmed the investigation wrapped up on May 31, although the suspect in the case was arrested more than a month before that.

Rainwater said Jeffrey Measor, 39, was arrested April 21 on seven drug possession and distribution charges after investigators acted on a tip that Measor was being shipped boxes of Tramadol, Alprazolam and Carisoprodol from outside the United States. At the time of the arrest, authorities found 64,000 illegal pills.

"While he was in jail, during that time, we intercepted some more packages from the UPS stores in Forsyth County, totaling about 40,000 additional pills," Rainwater said.

Rainwater said with the help of federal authorities, investigators found the shipments were coming out of India, into New York and then into two UPS stores in Forsyth County.

"From Cumming, Ga. this man would go to the UPS stores, pick up packages every other day, take them home, repackage them...and send them to people across this country," Rainwater said. "Matter of fact, there were 230 different people he was sending pills to."

Rainwater said none of the recipients was in Forsyth County.

Rainwater said Measor was released May 11 on $82,520 bond. He will face a judge later this summer, according to Rainwater.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution identified Measor as a former football coach at Centennial High School in Roswell. Measor was not working at the school at the time of the arrest, according to the newspaper report.
