Posted 7:43AM on Wednesday 7th June 2017 ( 7 years ago )

No one was injured but a home was extensively damaged in Chicopee when it caught fire Wednesday morning.

According to an email from Hall County Fire Captain Zach Brackett, the cause of the fire at the home on 2nd Street in Chicopee Village was determined to be an electrical short.

Brackett said in the email that crews arrived around 5:30 a.m. to find fire in the attic of the 1800 square foot home. An offensive attack was used to extinguish the fire, he said.

The home suffered extensive damage inside and the American Red Cross was called to help the homeowner, who was the only occupant.
