Lanier Technical College's Ric English, Computer Information Systems student, has been named as the State Historian/Reporter for SkillsUSA State of Georgia.
Newly elected SkillsUSA state officers attended state officer training at Unicoi State Park and Lodge. They participated in teambuilding activities including 30-second speeches, group skits, and other bonding and teaming activities. Over the four-day event, the judges looked at each newly elected officer's strengths and weaknesses and placed the new officers into roles that best suited their skills.
Among his SkillsUSA statewide duties, English will promote news about the State chapter to the public, and he will work with each of the Technical College System of Georgia's 22 technical colleges to help them promote SkillsUSA and each technical college's student successes. Additionally, he will chair the State chapter’s information or public relations committees. To show the historical positive impact of Georgia's SkillsUSA Chapter, Ric will collect publicity to display at state and national meetings that will be included in the State chapter’s scrapbook.
In September 2017, he will attend the Washington Leadership Training Institute in Washington.
