CLARKESVILLE — The Habersham County Commission has accepted the resignation of County Clerk Crystal Ward.

At its meeting Monday night, the commission voted 5-0 to accept Ward’s immediate resignation.

“On the 16th [of June], we received a letter of resignation from our county clerk, Crystal Ward, for personal reasons,” said Commission Chairman Victor Anderson. “The board has voted to accept that resignation and waive any advance notice requirements, so she is officially resigned.”

Also Monday night, the commission appointed a temporary replacement.

“Tonight, we have appointed the deputy clerk, Lindsay Underwood, as our interim county clerk,” Anderson said.

Lindsay Underwood is serving as interim county clerk for Habersham County following the resignation of Crystal Ward.
