Gainesville High FCCLA brings home the gold

Gainesville High School's FCCLA students competed at the 2017 National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee this summer, with more than 12,000 students from over 40 states and Puerto Rico competing.

GHS's Arianna Alvarado, Bianca Ortiz, and Danna Flores earned first place in the Life Event Planning competition for Culinary, receiving a Gold medal for their presentation entitled "Eat the Globe."  Ashley Dabney received first place in the Leadership competition and was awarded a Gold medal for her presentation "Becoming a Leader."

Riley White and Caroline Reames won second place at the conference, receiving a Silver medal in the AquaWarriors competition for their work in building an aquaponic garden with assistance from the GHS Construction and AP Human Geography students.

Seven of the nine students who competed were GHS graduates and will be attending college this fall.
