Site work has begun on the west side of Gainesville where the Achdiocese of Atlanta plans to construct a Catholic church and school.

Jason Justice, Senior Planner for the City of Gainesville, says a Land Disturbance Permit was issued on May 25.

Justice added that paperwork on file with the city shows that there have been no changes to the original plans for the complex, which is to be built, in phases, on the site of an old golf driving range off Browns Bridge Road between Memorial Park Drive and McEver Road.   The city council approved those plans more than two years ago.

He said the city has not been given a timeline for construction of the various facilities but has reviewed plans for the "main church building."

A Land Disturbance Permit for the project was granted May 25. This picture was taken last week.
