The Gainesville High School 125th Anniversary Celebration event held this past February was recently selected for the state's 2017 Local History Advocacy Award.
Sponsored by the Georgia Historical Advisory Commission, the award honors excellence in archival program development by local historical records repositories or local governments.
According a news release from the Gainesville City School System, the key individuals instrumental in the school district receiving the award due to their major roles as members of the GHS 125th Anniversary Committee include: Erin Still, Kim Davis, Helen Perry, Jeff Pierce, Kris Nordholz, Jean Brannon, Neal Hughs, Chip Frierson, Violet Waldrip, Andrea Gilbert, Beverly Nordholz, Janice Young, Linda Hutchens, Linda Cornett, Tom Smith, Sammy Smith, Susan Wooten, Nathan Bourdeau, and Scott Thomson.
An awards ceremony will be held on October 26 at the Georgia Archives Center in Morrow.
