GAINESVILLE — It's been five seasons since Lakeview Academy football opened a campaign on the winning side.

All that frustration boiled over in impressive fashion on Friday, as the Lions dominated East Jackson 42-13 in Gainesville.

Alec Bornhorst paced Lakeview's offensive assault, throwing two touchdown passes and running for two more, while Dillon Knepp added a scoring run and an interception return for a score. Bornhorst's two scoring strikes went to KJ Millwood.

"We were hitting pretty good, on all cylinders -- really picking up where we left off on offense from last season," Lakeview coach Matthew Gruhn said. "I thought we were ready for the season, but you never know. They had already had a game to work out the kinks so that was a concern, but we really came out and played well.

"Both lines of scrimmage also played really well. The defensive front got good pressure and the offensive line protected Alec well."

Lakeview travels to Athens Academy next week.
