The remnants of Hurricane Harvey are pushing through north and central Georgia, including the Gainesville area, bringing with them the possibility of several inches of rain and tornadoes.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says another "one to two" inches of rain is expected into Saturday with "locally heavier" amounts in the northern part of the state. "Brief tornadoes" are also possible today "over most of north Georgia," according to a hazardous weather outlook. Some minor flooding can be expected, according to forecasters, as the rains continue.
As of 1:45 this afternoon, .97 inch of rain had fallen at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville since the showers began Wednesday.
