The Gainesville City School System would like to recognize military veterans who were unable to receive their high school diplomas because of military service.

Veterans who meet the requirements listed below can complete the form located at http://www.gcssk12.net/assets/diploma-request-by-veterans.pdf and submit to the Gainesville City School Board Office by October 1 so that recognition can be arranged during the month of November.

Candidates who wish to be awarded a diploma for services rendered in a recognized branch of our Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) in lieu of graduation requirements in effect at the time of their assignment must be able to demonstrate proof of enrollment in the district and evidence of an honorable discharge from a branch of the Armed Services.

Upon meeting requirements, the veteran will be recognized with a diploma bearing his/her name and the year of graduation corresponding to the year of anticipated graduation. The diploma will be signed by the current high school principal and current school board chairman.

The diploma may be presented in a formal setting, if it is so desired by the recipient.
