Corey Gilleland, a deputy with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, will be joining the Police Unity Tour next year.

The event is a 250+ mile bicycle ride from Portsmouth, Virginia to Washington, D.C. to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty and to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Each year, over 2,500 cyclists from around the country participate in the ride, which culminates at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington during Police Week in May.

According to the sheriff's office Facebook page, Gilleland is funding much of the journey out of pocket, while also raising money directly for the charity. Anyone interested in making a tax deductible donation, should email:  [email protected] or call Gilleland at (770)531-6889.
