A Hall County Superior Court jury has convicted a Flowery Branch man in an August 2015 rape case.

According to Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh, Kyle Janess, 20, of Flowery Branch was convicted by a jury on Thursday, September 21, after a three day trial. Janess had been accused in the rape of an 18-year-old victim at a Gainesville location on August 30, 2015.

"The verdict of guilty was returned after approximately 40 minutes of deliberation," Darragh said in an email statement.

Immediately after the verdict, Janess was sentenced to life in prison with 25 years to serve behind bars. The balance of the sentence is to be served on probation.

Senior Judge John Girardeau presided over the case. Darragh said the case was tried by Assistant District Attorney Kelley Robertson.
