TIGER — Brison Beck had a huge night Friday rushing for 131 yards and four touchdowns to lead Rabun County to an easier-than-expected 45-14 thumping of Elbert County in a key Region 8-2A showdown at Frank Snyder Stadium.
The two teams had battled for the region title each of the last two seasons. It has been an up-and-down season so far for the Blue Devils. The loss was their second straight and marked the first time since 2014 they have dropped back-to-back games.
The Wildcats (7-0, 4-0 Region 8-2A) never trailed and used a pair of touchown runs oof 43- and 17-yards by Beck in the first half to take a 21-0 halftime lead. Beck added a 7-yard scoring run midway through the third quarter as they pushed the lead to 27-0. The Blue Devils (4-3, 2-2) cut the lead to 21-7 late in the third quarter but Rabun County exploded for 18 points in just under seven minutes to put the game out of reach.
Freshman quarterback Gunner Stockton had a 1-yard touchdown run and a 26-yard touchdown pass to Austin Sosebee. Stockton finished with 216 yards passing. Braxton Hicks had 4 catches for 75 yards receiving.
The Wildcats will travel to Social Circle next week.
