Some changes in traffic patterns are coming Wednesday for Gainesville-to-Athens commuters: a lane shift on Athens Highway.
It's all a part of the widening of the road - and involves a part of the project near Talmo.
The lane shift is expected to be in place for at least a year while a culvert is constructed under the road.
"Northbound traffic on SR 11/ US 129 just departing Talmo will be shifted over toward the left," according to a state Department of Transportation news release. "Crews will place temporary concrete barriers to move traffic to new asphalt in the former grass median."
