Turner, Wood and Smith broke ground Tuesday with a dedication ceremony for the insurance firm's new headquarters.
The 16,000 square foot complex will be located at 1514 Community Way between the Frances Meadows Center and Gainesville Middle School. Tipton Construction is the general contractor and Hussey Gay Bell is the architect. The two-story facility is expected to be ready for occupancy this fall.
Turner, Wood and Smith, founded in 1905, operates throughout North Georgia, and currently has 39 employees.
“We are very excited to get started on our new building,” said Joe Wood, Jr., President of Turner, Wood and Smith. “We have been at our 100 Brenau Avenue location since 1989, and while we love being in downtown Gainesville, we have 39 employees and only 32 parking spaces. Moving out of our headquarters is a huge step for our company, but we are ready to join our new business neighbors in the New Holland area. We’re thrilled to have reached this milestone after planning and exploring many options. Our long-term commitment is to our clients, employees and the Gainesville-Hall County community. We look forward to many more years of growth and success in our new home.”
“We are proud of the growth of Turner, Wood and Smith in our business community,” said Kit Dunlap, President of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. “TWS has been one of the longest standing and most active members of our local Chamber. Their long history and commitment to complete customer satisfaction (have) made them the agency north Georgia employers rely on year after year.”
Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan noted, “Turner, Wood and Smith plays a significant role in the community and it is so much more than just an insurance agency. The new location is in a high traffic area, right in the middle of the action, and will allow TWS to continue to grow and add more jobs.”
The Brenau Avenue property has been bought by the City of Gainesville.
