CLEVELAND — The White County Board of Commissioners on Thursday adopted a resolution supporting the efforts to improve traffic flow at the end of Ga. 400 at Ga. 60, and the possible extension of the highway to the new Appalachian Parkway in White County.
The same resolution already has been adopted by the Lumpkin County Commission.
The resolution by the two counties calls on the State of Georgia and Georgia Department of Transportation to make extending Ga. 400 by 16.2 miles a priority in their transportation plans, and to designate funds accordingly for the project.
The two counties agree that this would provide a valuable East/West connection opportunity for GDOT and benefit the area’s tourist industry, help the universities located in each county, and benefit the counties’ citizens.
