The Georgia State Patrol said a man from Franklin County was killed when he crashed into the back of a tractor trailer parked illegally on an off-ramp on I-85.

The Georgia State Patrol said Harry Harold White II, 65, of Canon was driving his 2006 BMW X3 northbound on I-85 when he exited the Martin Bridge Road off ramp (Exit 154).

Sgt. Auston Allen said White failed to maintain his lane as he made the exit and traveled onto the paved east should of the roadway. His vehicle hit a parked tractor trailer, according to Allen, ending up underneath the back of the rig.

Allen said investigators determined the driver of the rig, 49-year-old Buffy Lashwan Perez of Carrollton, was parked illegally beside a "No Parking" traffic sign on the ramp.

Perez was cited for improper parking.

Both Perez and a 10-year-old passenger in the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The fatal accident happened just after 9:30 a.m., according to Allen.
