Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) crews will begin construction on three bridges in Jackson County over Interstate 85, with the first bridge closure set for this month.
The bridges on Plainview Road, Neal Road and Old Stagecoach Road will be closed while construction is underway, according to GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland.
Closures of Plainview Road will begin Monday, June 11.
Neal Road is scheduled to close on July 16.
Strickland said the closure of Old Stagecoach Road has been delayed until late 2018 or early 2019.
Each closure will last a maximum of 180 days and will have clearly marked detour routes.
Two additional bridges over I-85, Cedar Ridge Road and Brown Road in Franklin County, are also scheduled to be replaced in early 2019.
This project will replace bridges that have been in service for over 55 years and will enhance safety by increasing lane width and adding shoulders to the travel lanes.
This project was awarded to Georgia Bridge and Concrete, LLC of Tucker, Georgia in the fall of 2017.
