Workers will begin installing a new drainage pipe on flood-damaged State Route 17/75 in White County Monday.

According to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release, this will require a closing of the road and a detour from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

The pipe was damaged during the flash flooding that hit parts of northeast Georgia a couple of weeks ago.

"Georgia DOT is taking this opportunity to replace and upsize the pipe," according to the release.  "The location of this repair is near the Top of Georgia Airstream Park, the closest milepost to the work is milepost 11.4."

The detour route will guide traffic around this repair work by way of State Route 180 to State Route 348 then to State Route 75 Alternate. This detour will position motorists back on State Route 17/75.  Tractor trailers will be directed by flagging operators to State Route 11 instead of State Route 348.
