With August comes the so-called dog days of summer. To that end, the Hall County Animal Shelter is offering a dog adoption special specifically for older dogs.

All senior dogs - over the age of six - are available for free adoptions and all large dogs are available at a reduced cost of $25 throughout the month of August, according to shelter officials. The typical adoption fee is $85.

"The adoptions will still cover spay/neuter, a rabies shot, microchipping, a health exam and the dog's first set of shots," said Mike Ledford, Hall County Animal Shelter Director.

The Hall County Animal Shelter is located 1688 Barber Road in Gainesville. It is open for adoptions Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone seeking additional information is asked to contact the Hall County Animal Shelter at 678-450-1587.
