Crews with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will start grading sections of I-985 near the new Exit 14 interchange this week.
GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland said single lane closures will allow the grading around the on-off ramps, which are currently under construction.
"This work will require nightly lane closures northbound between mile post 13.1 to mile post 14.1 from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.," Strickland wrote in a press statement.
Additional construction-related lane closures for this project are also scheduled for August 6 through August 10. They include:
- Monday through Thursday, I-985 northbound between Exit 12 (Spout Springs Road) and Exit 16 (State Route 53/ Mundy Mill Road) 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
- Friday, I-985 northbound between Exit 12 (Spout Springs Road) and Exit 16 (SR 53/ Mundy Mill Road) 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
- Monday through Friday, flagging operation at the intersection of Martin Road and SR 13/Falcon Parkway from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Exit 14 interchange project has a scheduled completion date of August 31, 2019 and was awarded to G.P.’s Enterprises, Inc. in June of 2017. The project represents a $33 million construction investment in Hall County, according to GDOT.
