Plans for a small shopping center on the Dawsonville Highway next to the Jackson EMC building have received a "do pass" recommendation from the Gainesville planning staff.
However, it comes with a number of conditions, including ones dealing with traffic control along the busy and growing commercial corridor west of town, prohibited uses for the property and vegetated buffers.
There are two tracts on the site, totaling 6.8 acres. One is zoned Office-Institutional and General Business and the other General Business. The applicant, LLJ Development, LLC, wants both zoned General Business. Plans call for the location of a fitness center and restaurant on the site, as well as a retail component.
The matter goes before the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board Tuesday, August 14, at 5:30.
