While the details still need to be ironed out, the City of Lula plans to hold a special election on March 19, 2019 to fill a vacant city council post.

Vince Evans, who represented District 1 on Lula City Council, abruptly resigned on August 3, citing personal reasons.

At the time of Evans' resignation, City Attorney Joey Homans advised council members it would be difficult to coordinate an election in time for November.

The Lula city clerk said as the schedule stands now, qualifying for the post would be held the week of January 7, 2019, although those dates have not been confirmed at this point.
