Hall County Fire Services has been awarded a grant to place vehicle exhaust removal systems in some of the county's older fire stations.
Capt. Zachary Brackett announced the award in a press statement Friday, saying the Assistance to Firefighters Grant totals $200,078.
"The grant will provide $181,890 and Hall County's match will be $18,188," Brackett said. "The application was submitted in February of 2018."
Brackett said the systems would be placed in a total of nine fire stations, all built before 2002.
"[The systems] will reduce personnel's exposure to carcinogens and chemicals in vehicle exhaust," Brackett said.
Brackett said the systems will be installed at Stations 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. He did not have a date for the systems to be installed.
