A native of Atlanta, who was severely disfigured when her ex-boyfriend attacked her with sulphuric acid five years ago, will be the speaker at this year's Domestic Violence Breakfast & Briefing in Gainesville.
Christy Sims sustained third- and fourth-degree burns to over 20 percent of her body, including her entire face, neck, chest, and arms. She currently serves as a public speaker, an author, a nationally-certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. You can read more about her story by clicking here.
The 14th annual event will be held Oct. 10 at Brenau University's Trustee Library, sponsored by Brenau, the Gateway Domestic Violence Center. the Hall County Solicitor's Office and McDonald's.
In addition to sharing her story, Sims will present this year's Gateway "Domestic Violence Officer of the Year" award.
The event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required, but seating is limited.
