An investigation is underway after a single-vehicle crash in Lawrenceville killed a woman and injured four other people, including two children.
The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit reported the accident happened around 4 a.m. on Callie Still Road near Laricks Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Lateika Powell of Monroe, was traveling northbound on Callie Still Road attempting to negotiate a curve. Investigators said she lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the eastbound land, through the westbound lane and then off the roadway. The vehicle went airborne and hit a tree on the driver's side of the car.
The victim in the crash was identified as 29-year-old Candice Tate; she was seated in the back of the car on the driver's side.
Investigators identified the other passengers in the vehicle as 30-year-old Ebony Tate, 5-year-old Mykal Tate and 8-year-old Aaliyah Gonzales.
There's no word on whether Powell faces charges in the fatal crash.
