Hall County School District Supt. Will Schofield plans to recommend to the board of education on Monday that about $800,000 be spent to upgrade the county's Early College campus.
In a recent memo to board members, the media and others, Schofield said the money is needed for a "fully operational college-level science laboratory and prep room, enabling us to offer college Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses. We anticipate these offerings to begin in the fall of 2019."
Also included are upgrades to eight classrooms to include additional classroom technology, marker boards and classroom furniture; "much needed" LED lighting for the gymnasium; sound system in the gymnasium; and, conversion of the cafeteria into a modern student center.
The work would be funded by ESPLOST (Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) revenues, according to Schofield.
The school board meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at the Central Office on Green Street.
