The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office wants to talk with two Lumpkin County men in connection with a school bus crash that happened Tuesday morning.

Capt. Jay Baker told CBS46 TV a vehicle crashed head-on into a school bus on Hightower Road in Ball Ground, sending the bus into a ditch.

The driver and one student on board were not seriously injured.

Authorities discovered the vehicle that apparently was involved in the crash in a nearby yard, but there was no one with the vehicle.

"The steering wheel appeared to be broken by the body from the impact of the collision and we found some blood on the scene," Baker told the television station.

Baker said Timothy Kimbarl, 17, and Jordan Payne, 22, are persons of interest in the case.

Baker said the pair may also be involved in the theft of a minivan from a nearby business. The tag number for the van is RRW 9285. Baker is asking anyone with information on Kimbarl or Payne to call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 770-720-7079.
