Northeast Georgia will be well represented in the volleyball quarterfinals of the Class 3A State tournament on Saturday.
Cherokee Bluff, North Hall, Dawson County and Jackson County have all advanced to play for a chance at the round of the four scheduled for Oct. 29.
Bluff, Area 7 No. 3 seed, rallied after falling behind 2-0 in the five-set match to upset Area 3 No. 1 seed Savannah Arts Academy, 3-2. Madi Phillips turned in 13 kills and 10 blocks and Camille Godfrey had 4 aces and 30 digs to lead the Bears in the win.
Also in the stat book for the Bears: Laura Ross: 5 kills, 2 aces, 5 digs; Jaydn Jarrard: 1 kill, 6 digs; Brandyn Peterson 3 kills, 3 blocks; Finley Millwood: 2 kills; 5 digs; Sage Sutulovich: 10 kills, 1 block, 2 digs; Tristan Boling: 2 kills, 6 digs; Abi Whitaker: 1 kill, 1 block; Autumn Holler: 4 aces, 9 digs.
The Bears will travel to Area 4 No. 2 seed Pace Academy on Saturday.
Area 7 No. 1 seed North Hall blanked the No. 2 team out of Area 1, Windsor Forest, 3-0, to earn a home match against Area 8 No. 2 seed Jackson County on Saturday.
Area 8 No. 2 seed Jackson County also pulled off an upset of No. 1 seeded Jackson, blanking them 3-0 in straight sets to advance. It's the Panthers' third-straight appearance in the Class 3A quarterfinals. They will travel to North Hall on Saturday.
Area 7 No. 2 seed Dawson County shocked Area 1 No. 1 seed, 3-0, to advance and will host Area 4 No. 3 seed Greater Atlanta Christian on Saturday.
