Forsyth County has opened a new, state-of-the-art, 2,200 square foot Health & Wellness Center, offering on-site medical services to Forsyth County employees, spouses, dependents (above the age of two) and retirees who are currently enrolled in one of the county’s medical plans.
The center, located at 514 W. Maple St. in Cumming, offers preventive health maintenance, immunizations, acute and primary care exams, screenings, specialty and diagnostic referrals, disease management, and condition care-related information as well as an after-hours hotline. An on-site prescription medication dispensary will provide a select group of medications at no cost and copays/visit fees will not be required for appointments.
“The Employee Health and Wellness Center will provide a convenient, cost-effective healthcare option for our employees,” said County Manager Eric Johnson. “The center demonstrates the Board of Commissioners’ commitment to helping employees live their healthiest lives. By offering this resource, the county will also be able to better control the overall costs of the healthcare benefit.”
With the care provided in the Health & Wellness Center, Forsyth County expects to experience a substantial return on its investment after an estimated two-year period following the center’s opening, while employees will enjoy savings with no copays immediately.
The center has five exam rooms and is staffed by a nurse practitioner and a medical assistant. The center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be closed on weekends, county holidays and other days county government offices are closed such as for inclement weather.
A grand opening ceremony for the center is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
