An alert neighbor notified authorities to a burning home on Countryside Drive in South Hall County early Saturday morning.

Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zachary Brackett said fire crews arrived at the house around 5:30 a.m.

"Our first arriving units got there and found a 1,600 square foot home that had heavy fire showing from the attic and the roof...just heavy fire involvement," Brackett said.

Brackett said the house was destroyed by the fire.

The house was unoccupied, according to Brackett.

At this point, investigators do not know how the fire started.
