A Peachtree Corners man has been charged with second degree vehicular homicide following a Monday morning car accident that killed a Hartwell man.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said the accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on Peachtree Corners Circle at the intersection of Jones Mill Spur.
Traffic investigators said Chequan Burkett, 25, was traveling northbound on Peachtree Corners Circle when he hit his brakes to avoid striking a vehicle that was stopped in front of him. As he did so, he swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a Honda Accord head-on.
The driver of the Accord, Min Kim, 37, was killed in the collision.
In additional to vehicular homicide charges, Burkett also was charged with failure to maintain lane. He has posted bond and is out of jail.
