Two residents of a home on Golden Maple Court in the Reunion subdivision escaped a fire that broke out around midnight.

Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zachary Brackett said crews arrived at the scene to find heavy fire coming from the front of the 3,000 square-foot house.

"The fire was rapidly extinguished utilizing an offensive attack," Bracket said.

Brackett said the home is unlivable and two men who lived at the house were displaced.

"One of the occupants awoke to the sound of the fire and then smoke detectors alarmed while both occupants were exiting the structure," said Brackett. "No injuries were reported."

After investigators looked over the scene, they determined the fire originated in an outdoor fireplace and managed to spread to the house, Brackett said.

He said the fire serves as a reminder to citizens to make sure all fires - indoor and outdoor - are completely extinguished.
