The Hall County planning staff is recommending approval of a South Hall senior living facility, and the City of Gainesville is moving ahead with plans for a mixed-use development in Midtown.
As AccessWDUN reported a week ago, Highlands Residential is requesting that 5.77 acres on Thompson Mill Road near Napa Ridge Road be rezoned as part of plans for a 152-unit complex for seniors.
The planning staff's recommendation, which is scheduled to be heard by the County Planning Commission Dec. 2, comes with a number of conditions, including limiting the number of units to the 152 that are being proposed and that total heated floor space not exceed 145,019 square feet.

Meanwhile, the City of Gainesville is moving ahead with plans for the development of two parcels in Midtown, including a seven-acre site at the end of the pedestrian bridge over Jesse Jewell Parkway. Both were recently sold to a private developer who plans a mixed-use development in that area.
The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board will be asked Dec. 10 to rezone the property in preparation for its development. Click here for more information on the meeting and the city's request.
