Nearly 300 public schools, including one each from the Gainesville and Hall County school systems,s are recipients of Highest Performing or Greatest Gains awards from Gov. Brian Kemp and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement.
The school awards, developed by GOSA and approved by the State Board of Education, are part of Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System. Highest Performing schools must earn a three-year average College and Career Ready Performance Index Content Mastery Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile. Greatest Gains schools must earn a three-year average CCRPI Progress Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile. Each award category has four tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. GOSA revised the criteria for the SSAS awards in 2018 with the SBOE’s approval to account for changes to the CCRPI formula.
Locally, Gainesville Exploration Academy and Johnson High School made the list. Schools in several other northeast Georgia counties, including Habersham and White, are also included.

The 2019 Greatest Gains award winners include 130 schools across 55 districts, and the 2019 Highest Performing award winners include 105 schools across 19 districts. Forty-six schools in 14 districts are award winners in both categories.
Winning schools will receive a banner and certificate to display in the school.
