A 12-year-old boy was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident on Pleasant Hill Road in Gwinnett County Tuesday night.

The Gwinnett County Police Department issued a statement saying the accident happened just after 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 on Pleasant Hill Road near Woodberry Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the boy at the scene along with the drivers of three different vehicles.  Also at the scene were the drivers of three different vehicles. The boy was transported to a local hospital.

"The investigators assigned to the Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) were called to the scene," said Cpl. Michele Pihera in the press statement.  "Following their preliminary investigation, they learned that Gianni Salazar was attempting to cross Pleasant Hill Road near Woodberry Drive. Gianni was not in a crosswalk. He was subsequently struck by three vehicles. He later died at the hospital."

Pihera said none of the drivers will face criminal charges in the boys death.
