The chance for flooding across part of north Georgia remains for the week with the heaviest of the showers expected "late Wednesday into Thursday."
The National Weather Service updated its predictions for the week Sunday afternoon, several days after posting alerts that a series of weather systems would bring heavy rains throughout the week.
Predicted rainfall amounts have not changed much, with 6-10 inches forecast for the northwest corner of the state and 4-6 inches in the Canton, Blairsville, Gainesville areas.
"The first round of rainfall is moving into north Georgia this evening," reads a posting on the Peachtree City NWS Facebook page. "While this rain will largely end by midday Monday, additional heavy rainfall will occur each day beginning Tuesday. These multiple rounds of rainfall will likely lead to flooding issues across north Georgia! Keep updated to the latest forecasts as the axis of heavy rainfall may shift."
