CUMMING, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a man has been accused of shooting and killing his neighbor's dog with a pellet gun in Forsyth County.

News outlets report 50-year-old Carlos Garcia-Lopez has been arrested on an animal cruelty charge.

A Forsyth County Sheriff's Office report says a man told investigators that his 4-year-old mixed-breed miniature pinscher had been shot while he wasn't home. The man his fiancee discovered their pet on the floor upstairs when they came home from dinner Friday.

A deputy determined the shot likely came from Garcia-Lopez's home next door. The report says Garcia-Lopez told the deputy he shot the dog because he's had issues with dogs in his yard.

Garcia-Lopez made $5,610 bond and was released from jail Saturday. It's unclear if he has a lawyer who could comment.
