You've probably started feeling a little pinch in your wallet when you fill up your gas tank. AAA-The Auto Club Group reports gasoline prices took a double-digit jump on Sunday over last week.
Georgia drivers are now paying an average of $2.61 per gallon for regular unleaded, according to this week's fuel price report. That's 11-cents more than a week ago and 31-cents more than this time last month. Drivers are paying only 1-cent less than this same time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $39.15 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $3.50 from when prices were their highest last May.
"Gas prices may continue to fluctuate over the next few weeks due to decreasing gasoline stocks and peak refinery maintenance season," said AAA spokesperson Montrae Waiters. “AAA forecasts the national average should peak at around $2.75 by Memorial Day weekend.”
The average price per gallon in Hall County is $2.63 per gallon, an increase of 16-cents over last Sunday's average.
The most expensive gasoline in Georgia is in Irwin County in South Georgia, where the average price is $3 per gallon.
