For the past seven days, Georgia motorists have not seen much of a fluctuation in gasoline prices.
While AAA-Auto Club South reports an average price of $2.61 a gallon, GasBuddy.com is reporting an average of $2.57 a gallon. Both of those numbers are basically flat from calculations reported a week ago, although GasBuddy said in its weekly report, their average was 9-cents a gallon higher than last Sunday.
Montrae Waiters with AAA cautioned that gas prices this week are not an indication that prices will start to drop.
"While prices may continue to fluctuate, the springtime increase is not over yet,” said Waiters. "AAA forecasts the national average should peak at around $2.75 by Memorial Day weekend."
The average reported by AAA is 13-cents a gallon lower than the national average. The GasBuddy average is 17-cents per gallon lower than the agency's calculated national average.
Also from AAA, this week's average gas price in Hall County is $2.60 per gallon. The highest price in Georgia is $2.99 per gallon is South Georgia's Irwin County, while the lowest price is in Northwest Georgia's Dade County at $2.50 per gallon.
