Gainesville native is Georgia State's first Latina SGA president

Georgia State University made history this week with the election of its first-ever Latina Student Government Association president.

Jazmin Mejia is a junior from Gainesville, who is also a 2019 Spring Intern with the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials.

Mejia's family immigrated from Mexico and Honduras, settling in Gainesville,  She was born and raised in Gainesville and is a first-generation student and the third in her family to attend college in the States.

She is a third-year political science major at Georgia State.
