Hall County Animal Control officials report the third confirmed case of rabies in the county for 2019.
The latest incident happened last week in the 5400 block of Jerry Burruss Road in Murrayville when there was contact between a raccoon and a dog. The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab- Virology Section in Decatur. Animal Control officials said the confirmation on rabies came on Friday, April 26.
Positive alert signs have been posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was located. Animal Control officials are asking those who live in this area who see an animal acting abnormally in the area to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
Domesticated pets should be vaccinated for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Rd, Gainesville.
