A Japanese company that supplies products to the global automotive market is expanding its facility in Walton County.
The announcement about the expansion of Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. came Friday morning from Gov. Brian Kemp's office in Atlanta.
The plan calls for the addition of 100 jobs to the current 900-employee workforce. Hitachi will invest at least $100 million in the expansion, and it is possible the additional investment could reach the $330 million mark.
"We are excited that Hitachi chose to expand their facility in Monroe," said Kemp in a press statement. "Hitachi has been a great partner to the Walton County community by investing in employees and creating jobs for more than twenty years. I am confident that this investment will not only positively impact the local community, but it will also encourage continued success in Georgia’s strong automotive industry."
Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. is a group company of Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd., which is headquartered in Tokyo and manufactures and markets engine powertrain systems, electric powertrain systems, and integrated vehicle control systems for major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM) worldwide.
"Our company is proud to be operating in the State of Georgia now for over twenty-two years," said Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. President and CEO Paul Carroll. "The Georgia factory with its great workforce supplies advanced technology products for major automotive OEMs, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Nissan, Subaru and Honda. We are happy to continue to invest in the State of Georgia as a result of our great partnership with all of our stakeholders, especially the State of Georgia, Walton County, and the City of Monroe. We look forward to a very bright future together."
