Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Flat Creek Road that also damaged a sewer culvert late Friday morning.
Oakwood Police Department Capt. Rick Whaley said officers went to the intersection of Flat Creek Road and Covey Trail around 11:40 a.m.
"The vehicle was overturned and had possible entrapments," Whaley wrote in an email statement.
Whaley said the officers found the vehicle on its left side with two people inside.
"Officers assisted a 68-year-old female from the vehicle through the sunroof," Whaley wrote. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Meanwhile, Hall County Fire Services arrived at the scene to assist the driver, a 70-year-old man, who was still in the vehicle. Emergency responders got him out of the car and he was taken by emergency transport to the hospital.
Whaley said an investigation showed the vehicle was traveling west on Flat Creek Road, left the roadway on the right and hit a sewer culvert, knocking it from its foundation by 7 to 10 feet.
"It is unknown why the vehicle left the roadway," Whaley said.
Flat Creek Road was closed for more than an hour. The City of Gainesville remained on the scene into the afternoon making repairs to the culvert.
