*In a nod to the moonshining that once was common to the area, Sugar Hill city officials have dubbed the town's downtown entertainment area “Sugar Hill’s Intersection of Neighborhoods and Entertainment” (or SHINE). The change also includes liberalized alcoholic beverage ordinances that allow drinks to be taken to any number of entertainment venues in the district, such as the E Center, The Bowl, and the Splash Park.

*The farmers market in downtown Braselton will shift to its summer, weekly schedule beginning Friday, June 7.  It will take place each Friday through mid-August, 4:00-7:00.

*The grand re-opening of the Veteran's Memorial Park in Dawson County, originally scheduled June 5, has been postponed until June 12 at 4:00.

*North Georgia Technical College invites prospective students and family members from area counties to attend the second annual NGTC Program Preview from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the NGTC Toccoa Campus.

*Hall County Parks & Leisure Services will host a carnival at Laurel Park June 13-16, with rides for kids and adults, carnival food and carnival games.  There will be no admission.  Advanced discount ride tickets are available here.

*The University of North Georgia Bass Team is set to participate this week in the most prestigious college bass-fishing championship in the country.  It’s the YETI FLW College Fishing National Championship on the Potomac River presented by Lowrance.  155 teams are entered.
