*Brandy Medlin, who recently graduated from Habersham Central High School, is the recipient of a $3,000 Crawford Johnson, III and Walker Johnson Jones college scholarship on behalf of Coca-Cola. She is one of 20 children, stepchildren, grandchildren, or step-grandchildren of Coca-Cola UNITED associates receiving scholarships this year. Medlin is the daughter of Craig Medlin who is employed at Gainesville Coca-Cola.
*Atlanta-based Fox Theatre Institute recently presented a $6,600 check to Holly Theatre in Dahlonega to help undertake a project to study structural areas of the stage and supporting backstage areas. This year marks ten years of FTI as it continues to provide historical theaters and cultural centers across the region with funding, guidance, and professional development.
*White County Sheriff Neal Walden will be the featured speaker at the June meeting of the White County Republican Party. It will be held June 17 at 6:30 in the Roy Ash Community Room, 89 Jarrard Street, Cleveland.
*CSX Railroad maintenance activities on the railroad crossing at State Route 211 in Statham will prolong the crossing's closure, according to the state Department of Transportation. The crossing is expected to reopen on Saturday, June 22.
