GBI finds $200K worth of marijuana during traffic stop on I-85 in Buford

As part of an investigation into marijuana trafficking on I-85, authorities have arrested three North Carolina residents in the Buford area.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the Georgia State Patrol and agents with the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office found 70 lbs. of marijuana when they conducted a traffic stop Tuesday, June 11 near the Hamilton Mill Road exit on I-85 northbound. 

Arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana were:

Agents estimated the street value of the marijuana at more than $200,000. 

The GBI said agents have been working the I-85 corridor in an effort to curb marijuana trafficking from the Metro Atlanta area into neighboring states.
