Braselton will honor three brothers who served in World War II as the grand marshals of its Fourth of July parade.
The Smallwood brothers – John, Horace and Howell – will lead off the city’s patriotic parade, officials announced this week.
“We’ve all been riveted with the images celebrating the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Europe, so honoring World War II veterans is our way of paying tribute to their service to the nation,” said Amy Pinnell, Braselton’s downtown director.
The Smallwood brothers all live in south Hall County. John Smallwood and Horace Smallwood are Army veterans. Their brother, Howell Smallwood, served in the U.S. Navy. All three have been active in veterans’ organizations and causes in their lifetimes.
Braselton’s Fourth of July parade starts at 6 p.m. at the Braselton Tech Center on Ga. 53 and travels into the downtown area.
