When the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board meets next month, board members will consider requests for two separate residential developments - one that includes 375 single family homes and another comprised of 25 town homes with more than 2,000 square feet of office space.

Annexation required for residential development off Athens Highway

Integrity Development Group, LLC will ask members of the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board for permission to annex almost 220 acres of property in the area of Gaines Mill Road and Gillsville Highway just off Athens Highway. The developer plans a project that will consist of 375 single-family homes. The project would also require rezoning of the property to Planned Urban Development (PUD). The Heritage Point subdivision is located next to the property in question, according to paperwork filed with the city of Gainesville.

Developer wants rezoning for town home and office complex near City Park

S&E Holdings has filed a rezoning request for a 2.48-acre tract of land just off Green Street near City Park for the purpose of building four, two-story buildings that will house 25 town homes and 2,150 square feet of office space. The property is located to the west of Glenwood Drive. Because a portion of the property backs up to buildings on Historic Green Street, the project will need further approval from the Gainesville Historic Preservation Commission.

YMCA wants Howard Road to be renamed

Georgia Mountains YMCA, Inc. will ask the board to allow Howard Road to be renamed YMCA Drive. A portion of Howard Road on the east side of Georgia Highway 365 was renamed Lanier Tech Drive in 2017.

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. July 9 at the Gainesville Justice Center on Queen City Parkway. To see the agenda and associated information for each request follow this link
