Several people were arrested in Lumpkin County this week following a confrontation with drug agents and Hall and Lumpkin county sheriff's deputies during which one of them allegedly unleashed an "aggressive" dog on the officers.

"On July 24th, 2019, the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office received information on a wanted subject, Justin Brister, (29) of Dahlonega, (who) had multiple warrants out of Lumpkin and Hall County," according to a Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office news release.  "The information provided stated that Justin Brister was at the residence of 44 Silverwood Drive."

Officers from the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office went to the residence to serve arrest warrants on Brister.

"Once arriving on the scene," according to the release, "one subject was immediately detained, and another male subject released an aggressive dog on law enforcement and the male ran back inside."

The officers were able to de-escalate the situation with the dog without any injury to the dog or themselves.

Soon, four people came out of the house and surrendered, but during a sweep of the house, officers found two other people inside.
